Raised in a Christian home, Ken came to know the Lord early in life, giving his life to the Lord at a Christian camp in fourth grade. He was very active in a large youth group, often leading the group meetings, retreats and summer ministries. After attending Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA earning a BA in Biology, Ken moved east for work in Pittsburgh, PA as a construction take-off manager. There he met and married his wife, Beth, who served as an OB nurse instructor at the teaching hospital. Ken then earned his Master of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. They have two sons, David and Mark.
Having worked in senior healthcare executive positions in PA, DE, OH and NC during his career, Ken has regularly taught bible studies in church and home settings. He has served as a leader in multiple denominations often being a deacon or elder. He was also the head of a large Walk to Emmaus parachurch organization that held weekend renewal retreats for church leaders from a three-state area of VA, MD and DE. He was also a board member of Bibles for China and took trips to China to deliver bibles.
Ken and Beth moved to Deerfield upon retiring and actively and joyfully often take care of their three grandchildren. They have been members of North Suburban Church since 2015. At the church, Ken has taught, served on five recruiting teams, was a member of the Worship Improvement Team, served as chair of the Facility Team, regularly ushers, and now is a member of the Grounds Team of which his wife is deacon.
