Maralee Scott
DEACON - CARE AND COMPASSION
Maralee Scott was raised in a Christian family on a farm in Iowa. She attended University of Northwestern, St. Paul (her parents’ alma mater) where she graduated with a degree in education and met her husband, Mike. She earned an M.Ed. at the University of MN, welcomed their two children, Derek and Hannah, and worked in the Twin Cities area until moving to Buffalo Grove in 1995. Since then, Maralee has taught grades 2nd - 8th in School District 102, Buffalo Grove. She is a National Board Certified Teacher, and was awarded a NASA Endeavor Fellowship where she earned her certification in STEM education. In the spirit of mentoring and preparing Christian teachers for their profession, she enjoyed writing curriculum and teaching as an Affiliate Professor at Trinity International University and representing STEM education on the Education Department Advisory Board.
Maralee has attended North Sub since 1998. She has served in children’s ministry, directed the children’s Christmas choir, participated in life groups, bell choir, and Craftworks. “Having no family in the Chicagoland area, our friends are our family. North Sub is a huge part of that.”
