Jayne Eclov

North Suburban Church Children’s Director

Jayne grew up in Nebraska and moved to the Chicago area after graduating from Kearney State College with a B.A. in Education. Jayne has served as the Children's Ministry director at North Suburban Church for the last 25 years. Prior to working in children's ministry, Jayne and her husband, Larry, worked together to lead the young married ministry at North Suburban. Jayne has a deep passion for helping kids and parents connect with God, His Word and each other.

erin kenny

lead teacher

Erin has been working at Hillcrest Kids Early Learning in Bellingham, WA for the past 3 years as a lead teacher in the 3 year old classroom. She completed her STARS Merit Childcare Certificate and graduated from Whatcom Community College with an Associates Degree focused on Early Childhood Education. In the fall she will be attending Western Washington University to study Early Childhood Special Ed. Erin grew up in Northbrook going to St. Norberts preK- 8th grade then onto GBN Class of 2017. She is eager to teach the campers of Camp Shalom through play, introducing new ways for campers to experience God in and through His creation.

Sarah Higgins

Camp Shalom Executive Director

Sarah has been on staff with Young Life, a nondenominational Christian ministry, for 7 years. Prior to her work with Young Life, Sarah was the Director of Youth Ministry at a church in Gainesville, FL. Sarah graduated from the University of Florida with a B.A. in Political Science, and will graduate in May (2021) from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling and an M.A. in Theological Studies. Sarah lives in Northbrook with her husband and two boys, and her son Elijah will be a camper this summer at Camp Shalom. Sarah is passionate about children developing healthy attachments to God and to others, and she is excited to see how Camp Shalom will be a part of that journey for her family.

Caitrin holohan

teacher, session 1

Caitrin was born and raised in Northbrook, IL, attending both St. Norbert School and Glenbrook North High School. After attending the University of Dayton, and earning a B.A. in Secondary Education and a B.S. in Mathematics, Caitrin moved out to Portland, Oregon to be a part of University of Portland's Pacific Alliance for Catholic Education program. While at the University of Portland, Caitrin taught middle school math and earned a Masters of Education. Caitrin currently teaches secondary math in Honolulu, Hawaii, but is excited to be home for the summer. Caitrin has extensive experience working with children in various programs and ministries and is passionate about showing children the light of Christ.

Teachers

Our two teachers and our teacher's assistant are adults who have undergone our training in early childhood development principles. They each have had extensive experience in working with children and have been professionally background checked. At Camp Shalom, we do not hire high school students or anyone under the age of eighteen.
